Free fonts for commercial use: Reliable and quality sources
Introduction
Fonts are highly demanded elements, as they are used in both business settings and in everyday life. We’ve all needed to use a font at some point in our lives for a project.
Fonts are an element that often goes unnoticed, but with which we interact constantly, being a key part of a brand's identity. You’ve probably come across fonts that you immediately associate with well-known brands.
The font conveys personality and gives a specific tone to the text it’s applied to, enabling efficient communication.
However, finding fonts for commercial use can be difficult. There are many websites, but a good portion of them are paid or offer a catalog of low-quality fonts. That’s why I’m sharing some sites where you can find fonts for both everyday use and professional commercial use.
These recommendations are organized based on my personal criteria, which I explain in each section.
Fontshare is a completely free website where you can find high-quality fonts provided by Indian Type Foundry, a company specialized in creating and developing custom and commercial fonts.
If you visit Fontshare, you'll recognize something familiar on the homepage; that's right, the font you're reading right now is from Fontshare: Satoshi.
This website has a variety of tools that make it easier to find and use the font you need. Let's list the most important ones:
·Style and settings filters: You can classify the font library based on what you're looking for, whether it’s a modern, corporate, futuristic, or friendly font… There are up to 13 filters that will save you time. It also offers the option to view on-screen examples of the font used in different configurations, such as text paragraphs, various text alignments, and more.
·Site navigation: Navigating the site is incredibly easy and intuitive, making the experience of using the site a pleasure.
·Variations: Each font has different variations not only in style but also in weight, making it very versatile. A great advantage is that they often come with a variable version, which saves you from having to install multiple files.
·Licenses: Fontshare’s licenses are comprehensive, allowing you to use the fonts even for commercial purposes, with the only limitation being the modification of the fonts to prevent the malicious exploitation of these free resources.
·Formats: Each font has its own specifics, but generally, it is available in OTF format, variable, and various web formats, as well as being embeddable via web code.
·Ease of download and use: Once you've selected a website, you can choose to download only the versions you need, or if you prefer, download all the font files. Even with a full download, the file size is very small. The website makes downloading easy, requiring just 2 clicks to get the font.
A widely known website, and for good reason, Google offers a vast library of high-quality fonts to everyone, with an overwhelming variety. You could easily lose yourself here for hours and hours.
Google Fonts is widely used around the world across all industries for downloading fonts.
Its most important features are:
·Style and settings filters: It allows you to preview the font in a variety of examples, such as paragraphs, sizes, alignments, and more. It also lets you classify fonts based on their characteristics.
·Site navigation: As expected from Google, accessibility is a priority. Google has thought of everything, and navigating the site is very intuitive.
·Variations: The fonts have different variations not only in style but also in weight, making them versatile. Many of them come with variable versions.
·Licenses: Google Fonts licenses are open, allowing you to make full use of the fonts, including modifying them.
·Formats: Each font has its own specifics, but generally, it is available in OTF format, variable, and various web formats, as well as being embeddable via web code.
·Ease of download and use: It allows selective downloading of the versions you need or makes it easy to download the entire folder. Both options are quick to download.
This project was created with the intent to share. Its creators faced barriers to accessing fonts in their early days, and this is their way of ensuring others don’t go through the same experience.
The people behind this project aim to promote and educate others about typography, setting an example of how the trees that provide us shade today were planted by those who came before us.

The fonts on Open Foundry are quite dynamic and versatile, making them a great choice for most scenarios.
Its most important features are:
·Preview: It allows you to preview the font and its characters, and the font display also includes a sample of the font used in a graphic product, making it easier to visualize the final result.
·Site navigation: A website with a simple structure that makes it easy to use.
·Variability: The fonts on this platform come in different styles and finishes, but they practically ensure you’ll find what you're looking for.
·Licenses: The licenses are open-source, allowing free use of the fonts and full modification.
·Actualización: This platform promotes font sharing and aims to optimize this process through the use of modern web technologies and data integration, offering a future with enriching updates.
The most well-known platform, thanks to its massive font library and ease of use.
Although it’s included in this list, Dafont is a tool with varying results and several drawbacks. If possible, use the previously mentioned tools before turning to Dafont.
Its most important features are:
·Massive library: Dafont has an enormous collection of fonts of all kinds. However, the average quality of the fonts is low, so while it can get you out of a bind, it’s not recommended for professional settings.
·Efectos: En Dafont existen múltiples fuentes con efectos aplicados que añaden a su expresividad, útil si buscas este efecto en concreto.
·Licenses: Dafont licenses vary greatly, so fonts might be demos or lack commercial licenses. It’s important to proceed with caution.

Hola Nerea, las fuentes que menciono en el artículo están pensadas sobre todo para diseño gráfico y web desde ordenador, pero algunas también se pueden usar en móvil
En Android puedes cambiar fuentes con apps como zFont, y en iPhone hay opciones como iFont o AnyFont, aunque con más limitaciones, si buscas personalizar tu móvil, te recomiendo usar estas apps, yo uso zFont y va bastante bien
